About

One conference. The whole next step, in one day.

Delivered in partnership by NetworKING UK — a youth-led social mobility organisation — and Gradify, the platform helping students navigate university and degree apprenticeship applications, the Future Careers Conference is the flagship event of the NK calendar: the biggest room NetworKING UK puts a stage in front of, all year.

Why We Exist

Not everyone gets the same room.

Where you grow up, which school you attend and who your family already knows still shapes who gets a shot at the best universities, employers and apprenticeships in the UK. This is the gap the Future Careers Conference exists to close.

The Problem

Access isn't spread evenly.

Some students grow up with a parent, relative or family friend already working in law, finance, medicine or tech — someone who can explain how the industry actually works, proofread a personal statement, or make an introduction. Other students are the first in their family to even consider university, with no one at home who has sat an interview for a graduate scheme or knows what an apprenticeship pays.

That gap shows up as unequal access to professional networks, unequal access to careers guidance, unequal access to university and apprenticeship information, unequal access to work experience, and unequal access to the employers and industry insight that turn ambition into an actual offer. None of this is about ability. It's about who happens to already be in the room.

What We're Doing About It

NetworKING UK × Gradify, working at it every day.

NetworKING UK doesn't treat this as a one-day problem, so we don't rely on a single one-day fix. The Future Careers Conference is the most visible part of the work, but the events, workshops and networking sessions run year-round — building the relationships and know-how that students would otherwise have to inherit rather than earn.

Gradify joins that work with the tools and structure to help students act on what they learn — turning a conversation with an employer into an actual next step. Together, the aim is simple: put students in front of the universities, employers and apprenticeship providers who can open doors, and keep doing it consistently rather than as a single event on a calendar.
